My Life As A Book

July 20, 2008

Democracy Vs. Empire now makes available their fourth and newest release, 'My Life As A Book'. A sequel of sorts to their previous album, 'Date, Time, Light Shine', this full-length once again finds Ian Morris and friends off on a mystical journey to the stars and beyond. The highly melodic instrumentation, film and t.v. samples and experimental sounds that have been a common thread throughout all of their releases take shape once again in the form of a metaphysical concept album, exploring some of the spiritual themes of the last record while remaining playfully lighthearted and at times downright wacky. This 16 track album comes packaged in a groovy limited edition hardcover booklet featuring extensive artwork by Brad Grizzle, the designer behind the previous D vs E CD covers. Safe Sex

June 1, 2008

At last the rumors can be confirmed. It is true, friends, The Sport Goats are no longer together as a band. For years we have been in the midst of heated litigation concerning our business relationship with this band and were advised not to speak or report on any subject concerning the Sport Goats or the status of their latest record. Now that the law suits are settled, we have been given the green light to release what is the final word on safetycore, and it is a dirty word indeed. 'Safe Sex' is the disgustingly graphic, highly intimate exploration of the sensual side of safety awareness. It seems Nat Love and General Turbo refused to even appear in the studio together at the same time for most of the recording sessions for this album, but with the chemistry of Willy Lumpkin's production and the assistance of several Safety Squadron members, the Goats manage to deliver a piece of work that stands up to their finest cult-classic releases. This safetycore landmark will be presented as a limited edition of 500 copies, after which no more will be printed. Do not hesitate to get your copy now, as we have received literally hundreds of requests and inquiries regarding this album over the past few years. Due to the graphic nature of it's content, only adults age 18 or older will be eligible to purchase this album.

With your help we can make the world a better place, one Flagpole award at a time.

In The Works

March 18, 2008

Well folks, it's a busy time here 'round the Emerald City studios! Several of our artists are currently hard at work on fresh recordings that will be flying your way thru-out the current year. Our good buddies in the Nice Machine have returned from extended hiatus to produce a new record and are working as we speak on jinky new tracks for the follow-up to 'My Rollerskate Date'. Also back on the rocketship is the impresario of electronic eloquence known as I'MO, who has recently reappeared from the crystal-lined keyboard caverns of the Emerald City's coast to lay down fresh sounds for an upcoming release. Our wacky friends in Democracy Vs. Empire have a new record already in the bag awaiting release, as do The Gods Of Mars with their(sadly)final album. And lastly, excitingly, Still Small Voice has plans to record this summer, as do Deaf Judges, two highly anticipated releases that we have received much request and demand concerning. Not to mention several simmering surprises from the ECR vaults due to drop at any time, so get your good ones on 'cause the best is yet to come!

Gods Of Mars Call It A Day

February 21, 2008

Yes friends, the news is sad but true. Our favorite dirt-metal roustabouts have finally thrown in the proverbial towel. After guzzling un-estimable quantities of alcohol, damaging the hearing capabilities of countless stoners and generally grossing out untold legions of redneck girls thru-out the southeast, the Gods of Mars have finally called it quits. The EC Ruins family cannot help but suppress a sniffle as we bid farewell to a long rocking tradition of bacchanal decadence and disaster and groovy times. But don't despair, 'cause Uncle Bobby and the boys have yet one final album they managed to squeeze out before the split. This rollicking death rattle will be available soon, so check back 'fore long for more news. Also, the former members of Gods of Mars will be appearing in the future as part of the newly formed Animal Husband's Puberty Ritual, some sort of psychedelic, psychosexual, sci-fi sound collective, so look out for that!

Y/Our Sparkle Heart New Release

The 10 song CD was recorded just a couple of months ago in Nashville, TN and is just peachy! Check it out to hear for yourself the clear progression of Y/Our Sparkle Hearts' folky/poppy/indie-rock sound. Plus, don't forget to check out the 'Appointment With The Optimist' single which features a song not available on the new album, and Ian and Sarah's great side-project album 'I Think It's About You', both available right here from EC Ruins.
